Meet the Team
Randy McDermott
OwnerRandy McDermott spent six years as Group Fleet Director at Waste Management, Inc. — one of the largest waste companies in North America — before moving into senior supply chain and operations roles at PwC, where he advised utilities, oil and gas companies, and fleet operators on margin improvement and operational efficiency.
He holds an MBA from Capital University and a Six Sigma Black Belt from Ohio State.
What makes Randy different from every other business consultant isn't the credentials — it's that while he was building his corporate career, he was also building a roll-off dumpster operation from the ground up. Executive by day, operator by night. One truck, one market, scaled to five trucks, and exited at $1.7 million.
He wasn't theorizing about small hauling operations from a boardroom. He was running one — while simultaneously sourcing over a billion dollars in annual contracts for Fortune 500 clients.
Most small operators never get access to the financial playbooks and margin analysis tools that institutional waste companies run on. Randy has worked inside both worlds at the same time. The diagnostic he built applies the same rigor he used at Waste Management and PwC — to businesses running one to five trucks instead of five thousand.
If you have ever looked at your revenue and wondered where the money went — you are not running the wrong business. You are running the right business with the wrong structure. That is exactly what the diagnostic is built to fix.
Chris McDermott
OwnerSeven years running a roll-off operation from the ground up. Not from a spreadsheet — from the yard, the phone, and the dispatch board.
Every morning started with routes, drivers, and the daily decisions that keep an operation running at full capacity. Every afternoon ended with whatever the day brought — a breakdown, a no-show, a customer who needed same-day service, a container in the wrong place. The job didn't stop until everything was handled.
Driver management, routing, pricing, customer service, broker platforms, hiring, and every operational decision that kept trucks moving and customers coming back. Built processes from nothing, refined them as the business grew, and scaled them when the operation demanded it.
Ohio State graduate. Operations background in logistics and workforce management before going full-time into roll-off.
The Small Hauler Series is everything learned from ten years in the seat — the pricing decisions, the hiring lessons, the broker traps, the dispatch strategies, the calls that cost money and the ones that made it — written down in the order it actually matters.
Not a textbook. A playbook from someone who has been there every single day.
